We’re all using AI now. It’s summarizing user interviews, generating user stories, and drafting competitive analyses at lightning speed. The promise was a firehose of insights to make us smarter, faster. But here’s the uncomfortable truth: we’re mostly just getting a firehose of content, and not all of it is signal.
The new challenge for PMs isn’t a lack of information; it’s the overwhelming noise generated by plausible-sounding AI ‘hallucinations.’ An AI can create a perfect-looking persona that doesn’t match any real customer segment or summarize feedback by amplifying an outlier opinion. Making roadmap decisions based on this faulty synthesis is a massive risk.
The most critical PM skill in the age of AI is learning to be a master interrogator—to treat AI output as a starting point, not a conclusion. This means constantly asking, ‘What’s the source of this insight?’ and ‘Does the raw data support this summary?’
To do this effectively, our product discovery and planning can’t live in separate silos. We need to maintain a clear line of sight from our strategic goals back to the original evidence. A unified product OS like https://leera.io helps create that traceability, linking roadmap initiatives directly to the underlying user feedback and making it easier to spot when an AI-generated ‘insight’ doesn’t align with reality.
