The pace of innovation, especially with AI, is breathtaking. Every team is exploring how to leverage new capabilities, and rightly so. But in this exciting race to integrate the latest tech, I’ve observed a subtle but significant risk: are we sometimes prioritizing ‘what’s possible’ over ‘what truly matters’ to our users?
Agile methodologies, at their core, champion iterative development and rapid feedback to deliver value. Yet, the allure of cutting-edge AI features can sometimes overshadow the fundamental task of solving real customer problems. We risk building brilliant solutions to non-existent challenges if we’re not vigilant.
This isn’t about shying away from innovation. It’s about consciously anchoring our product strategy and agile sprints back to validated user needs and market opportunities. It means doubling down on user research, questioning assumptions, and ensuring every AI integration isn’t just cool, but genuinely enhances the user experience or solves a critical pain point. Our role as PMs is more crucial than ever in championing this user-centricity, guiding our teams to build products that achieve true product-market fit, even as the technological landscape shifts dramatically.
How are you practically ensuring customer value remains central in your AI-infused agile sprints and product roadmaps?
