AI's Impact on PM: Friend or Foe?

The buzz around AI isn’t just in development anymore; it’s profoundly reshaping product management. We’re seeing discussions shift from “how can we use AI in our products?” to “how will AI change how we do product management?” From automating market research and user feedback analysis to even drafting initial product requirements, AI tools are becoming increasingly sophisticated. This isn’t just about efficiency; it’s about evolving the PM role itself. Do we become orchestrators of AI, leveraging its capabilities to gain deeper insights and accelerate decision-making, or does it risk commoditizing some of our core skills?

The real challenge lies in integrating AI as a strategic partner, not just a tactical assistant. Understanding AI’s strengths and limitations becomes a new core competency. It frees us from mundane tasks, allowing more time for high-level strategy, empathy-driven user understanding, and complex problem-solving that AI can’t replicate (yet!). However, it also demands a critical eye: are the AI-generated insights truly unbiased and comprehensive?

What aspects of your PM role do you believe AI will revolutionize the most, and what will remain uniquely human?
