We’re seeing a surge in discussions around how AI is reshaping the product management landscape. It’s more than just using AI for data analysis or generating user stories; the core question now is about the evolving role of the PM themselves. Is AI destined to be a powerful co-pilot, augmenting our abilities in research, roadmap planning, and even strategic thinking? Or could it eventually take the helm, automating significant portions of our work and fundamentally altering what it means to be a product manager?
This isn’t a fear-mongering debate, but a critical one for our professional development. Understanding how to leverage AI tools effectively will be a key differentiator. It means focusing more on high-level strategic thinking, empathy for users, and complex problem-solving that AI can’t easily replicate. The real challenge is defining the new synergy between human intuition and AI efficiency.
What aspects of your PM role do you believe AI will most profoundly impact, and how are you preparing for these changes?
