There’s a lot of chatter about AI automating jobs, and product management is no exception. But I think we’re framing the conversation incorrectly. It’s not about replacement; it’s about augmentation. AI is the most powerful tool to enter our toolkit in a decade, and it’s fundamentally changing how we work, not if we work.
Think about the manual grunt work we can now offload. Instead of spending days sifting through user interviews, AI can synthesize key themes in minutes. We can generate first drafts of PRDs, user stories, and competitive analyses instantly, freeing us up for higher-level strategic thinking. Imagine feeding all the customer feedback and insights you’ve centralized (for instance, using a tool like Leera.io) into an AI model to instantly surface the most pressing user needs.
This shift allows us to focus on the things only a human PM can do: building deep user empathy, negotiating with stakeholders, creating a compelling product vision, and making tough judgment calls. The core of our job remains, but our efficiency is about to 10x. The PMs who thrive will be the ones who master using AI as a partner.
What’s one task in your daily workflow you’re most excited to hand over to an AI assistant?
